Hawaii is one of the most ecological diverse places of the world, and you can find many extreme climates on the Big Island. It makes Hawaii even more interesting and it originates one of the often repeated quotes about Hawaii:

Hawaii has (10, 11 or 12) of the world’s 13 climate zones

This is an extraordinary feat for such a “small” (4,028 square miles surface) Big Island and would allow you to see all those different climates in one day.
