Did you know that there is a way for you to get a house for free?  Not 100% free, but close. The way to do this is with an adverse possession law. In Hawaii, squatters have a significant amount of rights, playing to their advantage. And there are a number of different laws protecting this group. Adverse possession laws allow a squatter to potentially gain legal ownership of a property. This comes only after the squatter has openly occupied the property continuously for twenty years. There are some stipulations, of course. This occupation must be actual, open, notorious, hostile, exclusive, and continuous over the full statutory period. While the squatter would still have to pay taxes, this is technically a legal way to get a free property or house. Though, twenty years may be a long time.
